How Radiesse® Works

Radiesse® works with your body. The tiny calcium-based microspheres support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen. Unlike other fillers that temporarily fill in folds and wrinkles, Radiesse® rebuilds the skin’s foundation to restore a youthful look. Comparatively, Radiesse® immediately restores lost volume, while also stimulating your body to produce its own natural collagen. This allows for long-lasting results.

What Radiesse® Treatment Requires

Before the treatment session, avoid aspirin or products containing aspirin. Products include Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Green Tea, Garlic, Ginko, Ginseng, and St. John’s Wort. Avoid these in the 10 days prior to treatment. Radiesse® cannot be given in sites where there is active inflammation.

Treatment sessions usually take 30-60 minutes. We will remove makeup if necessary, and the area is cleaned with an antiseptic solution. A topical numbing cream is applied and then a local anesthetic is given to help minimize discomfort. During the injection, a chiller is used to help reduce post procedure side effects.

Once the treatment is complete, ice can be used for a few minutes at a time to help reduce swelling. Avoid placing the ice directly on the skin by wrapping it in a cloth. It is important to avoid excessive UV lamp exposure and sun until initial swelling and redness has resolved. In addition, avoid the above-mentioned medications and supplements until any bruising has disappeared.
